Yes! This is a pin of a fish wrapped in the sheets.
It’s a quirky pun known really well to us – Lithuanians. On Christmas Eve there is a tradition to try at least 12 different dishes and one of them is called “Herring in the Sheets”. This comes from the old Pagan and Christian traditions, symbolising the 12 Apostles or the 12 months of the year, who are meant to be thanked and appreciated from the past year.

And this dish, the herring “in the sheets” is actually a layered salad composed of diced pickled herring covered with layers of grated boiled vegetables, chopped onions, and mayonnaise. So we made a herring literally tucked into beautiful white sheets!

Meant to wear on a dark suit, or any other jacket, bag, hat or cap!
